Here’s to children’s books!

Last week I accompanied author Rachel Caine to an event at Peters Books in Birmingham, and I was very impressed by the place. Peters is the country’s leading children’s library supplier, and getting a tour around their showroom was fantastic. In amongst life-size crocodile, gorilla and giraffe soft toys were 24,000 different children’s books – a huge selection! The place was so welcoming, with cosy reading rooms and bright colours, that I felt being able to browse and shop for libraries would be a very pleasant job.

It made me think about how important children’s literature is, and how more than ever we need to encourage young people to keep reading. So for anyone who wants to encourage their son/daughter/nephew/niece/grandchild to fall in love with books, here are a few of my favourites!
