Sir Robert Eustace made a very successful sale on the stock market, and lives between London and Devon with his second wife, Amanda. Robert has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, something he has kept from Amanda, and is appreciating the remainder of his life. Amanda, twenty-five years younger than Robert, strives for much more than this mundane existence, something her growing tally of affairs attests to.
Amongst the rigging of St. Katherine’s Docks Amanda meets Tony Barrow, a keen yachtsman, and before long they’re embarking on frequent sailing excursions together. One such journey takes them to the quaint destination of St Ives, where the current brings in far more than Amanda anticipated. Soon her two-week absence turns into four, and the affair with Tony becomes increasingly volatile. Robert begins to question her marked disappearance, hiring an investigator to uncover the facts behind the situation – who discovers that this quaint seaside town harbours dark truths between its cobbled streets and dazzling waters.
