The inside scoop from Wimbledon

Today is the first day of this year’s Wimbledon Tennis Championship. I happen to live in Wimbledon and this weekend I passed Jamie Murray in the vegetable aisle at Sainsbury’s. I thought it was Andy at first, but then noticed the bigger hair. Anyway, he was chatting to a man I can only assume was his trainer, about the one thing one chats about when in Sainsbury’s: what to buy for dinner. So, if you’ve ever wondered what a tennis pro eats for supper, I can officially tell you. This past saturday, Jamie Murray had pasta with prawns with garlic and olive oil. There could have been a mention of chopped tomatoes but I won’t swear on it.
I wish I had had the nerve to take a photo on my mobile to illustrate this blog but I wanted to play it cool. No doubt I will get other moments to brush shoulders with the tennis stars. My boyfriend spotted Pat Cash walking in our local health food store earlier in the week (he didn’t buy anything) and other pros have been known to mill about at the Dog & Fox pub in the Village.
