Reading on the move…or mobile reading…

I spend a lot of time on the train chugging to and from London. Which is great, usually, as it doesn’t take much for me to lose myself in a book and an hour of reading where I can’t do the washing up or other looming chores is precious. So it’s annoying when I finish a book five minutes into a forty-five minute journey. Travel without something to read – are you kidding?! So, I was very pleased to discover last year that my, by no means flashy mobile, could download sample chapters from novels care of the good people at i-cue. I have on there a plethora of tid-bits, including the chapters from the entire Richard & Judy list.

After getting caught on journeys where it was either read on my mobile or study my travelling companions’ faces, the upshot has been buying a copy of The Bolter by Frances Osborne, reminding myself how fantastic Kate Summerscale’s The Suspicions of Mr Whicher was, and waiting (not very patiently) for Lara to finish The Luminous Life of Lilly Aphrodite, which is next on my to read list.

We were so impressed with the service that we have made the opening of one of our big books for the Spring available on the service. You can have a sneak peek at the beautiful ONE FOOT WRONG before it’s out by texting ‘FOOT’ to 64888, with only a standard network charge to save you from commuter boredom!

Enjoy!
