Holiday Reads

Itโ€™s that time of year again when I am scouring bookshelves for potential holiday reads. I have two weeks to find two/three great books to keep me entertained on the plane and the beach. But my criteria are quite specific so I probably shouldโ€™ve started my search earlier.

I definitely want a print book rather an e-book, as my Sony E-reader is quite hard to read in bright sunlight. I think also a paperback, as theyโ€™re easier to read when youโ€™re lounging on your side – which rules out Shift by Hugh Howey and Dan Brownโ€™s Inferno, which are on my โ€˜to readโ€™ list.

The books Iโ€™m reading at the moment wonโ€™t do either โ€“ our very own Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet is so good I will have finished it by this weekend. And non-fiction book The Emperor of All Maladies is a bit heavy for holiday reading.

So my search begins for an engrossing chunky paperback, perhaps a thriller or Alan Hollinghurst-esqe. Iโ€™m slightly kicking myself for not saving Gone Girl for my holidays. Any suggestions?
