A double connection to Alfie

The new stage production of Alfie (based on the novel by A&B author Bill Naughton) is ending its run at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton this week (18 February), before moving on the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyne (22 February) and beyond.  See full listings here…

We have an obvious connection to the stage show seeing as we publish the book (which we’ve just reissued this month as an Allison & Busby Classic edition) but we’ve just discovered that we have a second, more subtle, connection to the show.  Another of our authors, Peter Ford (who co-wrote The True Story of the Elephant Man) has revealed that his daughter, Isabel Ford, is starring in the production, playing Siddie and Lily Clamacraft.

So there you have it, we’ve got TWO reasons to love the new play – aside from the fact that, given its rave reviews, it’s obviously a brilliant production!
