Crime-author Alanna Knight, who has written countless novels, including the acclaimed Inspector Faro series, has been recognised in the 2014 New Years Honours List and awarded an MBE for her services to literature.

Crime-author Alanna Knight, who has written countless novels, including the acclaimed Inspector Faro series, has been recognised in the 2014 New Years Honours List and awarded an MBE for her services to literature.

Her much-loved Faro series, featuring the 19th century Edinburgh detective, began in 1988 and continues today (the latest instalment, Murders Most Foul, just newly released this past December 2013) making it one of the longest running crime series. Aside from Faro’s exploits, Alanna Knight has penned many other novels, including a spin-off series featuring Faro’s daughter Rose McQuinn as well as short stories and plays.
