I was pleasantly surprised.
My first thoughts were, what a stunning cover. I’d never seen this book or heard of it before, probably because it was not in my mainstream reading genre.
When I investigated this book a little more it intrigued me.
Loosely based around the Brothers Grimm. I remember that story from my younger days. And I remembered I loved it.
This is the first “retelling” I have read. I see lots of my friends on Goodreads & Book Tube Reading “Retellings” but I’ve been afraid to read them. Not anymore!
There are six sisters, each broken down into descriptions of: The pretty one The musical one The clever and knowledgeable one The helpful one The young one And Then The wild one.
The fairytale aspect of this lovely story was captured within its exquisite wording. I loved it. The secret romance Dortchen and Wilhelm had, they loved each other from a very young age. Her father forbade it, but alas they met in secret.
I enjoyed this so much. So I’m so glad that the publishers sent me this, it gave me an opportunity to explore my reading fReadAlongWithSue Sue Ward, Bristol
