We may not have made the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize list, but we still have reason to celebrate!

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

We’ve been out to lunch today to celebrate the launch of the new website. Don’t get the wrong idea, publishing really is not made up of social fluttering and million pound deals being struck over champers at the Dorchester. It was a yummy pizza and pasta celebration but an occasion nonetheless. Now, I’m breathing garlic over my computer and trying to write a blurb. I think the garlic may have numbed my brain. The words are there but they are being quite obstinate about allowing themselves to be made into sentences. I think I may try again tomorrow.

Congrats to all the category winners for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize! Personally, I think our own ONE FOOT WRONG by Sofie Laguna should have made the list, but then as her publisher you’ll probably think me biased…

Going Too Far, by Catherine Alliott. Susie: I rarely read 'girly' books but came across Alliott a few years ago. I've read 3 of her books thus far, and was delighted to spot this one for 30p in a charity shop. I've not opened it as yet but am hoping for another witty, grown-up, middle-class romcom, with lots of 4x4s and country houses!
