Ready for the printers!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

For a short week, thanks to the lovely long bank holiday weekend, it’s been surprisingly busy. I’m one of those people who make lists of everything – jobs to do at work, jobs to do at home, shopping lists, upcoming birthdays; you name it, I list it – and ticking off an item as ‘done’ brings me little moments of pleasure and pride. What’s more satisfying than a job well done? Worryingly, the old adage ‘little things please little minds’ springs to mind but I won’t worry about that now…

So what have I been up to these past few days? I hear you ask. Well, the biggest and most important job of the week has involved preparing the fabulous new Rachel Caine book Lord of Misrule – part of the fantastic Morganville Vampires series – for printing, and I’m happy to say it’s now ready to go. It’s always a great feeling to finish work on a book and wait for the finished copies to come in, and this one is going to look amazing in Christina’s brilliant cover design. I’ve got to say I think it’s one of my favourites so far, so well done, Christina! And it’s a great read with a cliff-hanger ending that’s left me dying to read the next book. I defy anyone to read it and not cry out ‘Oh no! What happens next?’ Brilliant stuff! So as the week comes to an end, I’m pleased to feel pretty much on top of my to-do list (though I never quite reach the end of it!) and ready for a full week at work next week.
Happy weekend, everybody!

Going Too Far, by Catherine Alliott. Susie: I rarely read 'girly' books but came across Alliott a few years ago. I've read 3 of her books thus far, and was delighted to spot this one for 30p in a charity shop. I've not opened it as yet but am hoping for another witty, grown-up, middle-class romcom, with lots of 4x4s and country houses!
