Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

That’s your lot people, we’re fresh out of summer. According to my mother (obviously your first port of call for a long-range weather forecast) we might even have snow in the next month. So, this weekend wasn’t the best bet for a trip to the seaside, but nevertheless that’s what I found myself doing on Saturday, well wrapped up against the wind and with a waterproof at the ready. I still managed to factor in an ice cream stop, of course, and was royally entertained by a pair of kite surfers whizzing over the surface of the waves – so at least the wind was good for something.

    Going Too Far, by Catherine Alliott. Susie: I rarely read 'girly' books but came across Alliott a few years ago. I've read 3 of her books thus far, and was delighted to spot this one for 30p in a charity shop. I've not opened it as yet but am hoping for another witty, grown-up, middle-class romcom, with lots of 4x4s and country houses!
