Fantastic Polenastics

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

I am a pole-dance convert – for purely fitness reasons!

A good friend of mine is a polenastic fanatic (’polenastics‘ is pole-dancing as exercise) - so much so she has installed her own pole in the living room so that she can work out on it every day. This seemed a little excessive to me, until she invited me to have a go…
It’s so much fun! Before long I was whirling around all over the place. By the end of the night I could do a reasonable impression of the ‘Chair’, ‘Carousel’ and  ‘Sundial’ spins (I forget the other more exotic names!), and even managed to climb halfway up and stay there with no hands! If I’m honest, it probably wasn’t my most elegant of moments, but it was so much fun I just didn’t care. And it’s the best workout I’ve had in a long time – muscles ached the next day that I never even knew I had.

So this is my plan – I’m not going to turn down a single mince pie over Christmas, then I’ll whirl around on the pole in January to work off all those extra calories. Much more exciting than jogging round the park!

Sounds like a fabulous plan, Louise! Enjoy those mince pies!
