Everyone wants a little Happiness At Work…

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Tomorrow marks the opening of a new exhibition at the Print House Gallery in Dalston, featuring work by past and present members of the studio Happiness At Work, and including work from illustrator Harriet Russell

She also happens to be one of our authors…
‘Author of what book?’, I hear you ask…
Author of Envelopes: A puzzling Journey Through Royal Mail – a collection of creatively addressed envelopes which she sent through Royal Mail to see if they would still end up at their destination. See an extract here.

I’m not sure which of Harriet’s countless illustrations will be on display in this exhibition, but I hope perhaps one of these envelopes will feature among them. My favourite has to be the one with the address disguised in a crossword… where the postman took the time to work it out.

I can only assume these delightfully cryptic envelopes brought a smile to the postman’s average working day. Perhaps not the most reflective of Harriet’s talents as illustrator, but certainly apt for an exhibition showcasing Happiness at Work…?

The exhibition will be open from 9am to 5pm from 29th October to 15th November. For more information click here.

Going Too Far, by Catherine Alliott. Susie: I rarely read 'girly' books but came across Alliott a few years ago. I've read 3 of her books thus far, and was delighted to spot this one for 30p in a charity shop. I've not opened it as yet but am hoping for another witty, grown-up, middle-class romcom, with lots of 4x4s and country houses!
