Eat, Eat, Eat (all Italiana) - forget the Loving and Praying…

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

I have just returned from a weekend in Perugia visiting my Italian nonna (almost 103!) which means I’ve spent the last three days gorging on fresh pasta with homemade pesto, polpettone (meatloaf), fat and flavoursome sausages, minestrone, figs and prosciutto, more pasta, platefuls of borlotti beans with salt and butter (so simple, so delicious!) and grappa.

Needless to say, today’s Prêt sandwich lunch left a little to be desired. Not to mention I happened to sit next to a woman reading Eat, Pray, Love - stress on the Eat - painfully reminding me of that delicious chapter about food and Italy again.

But! I think Susie must have sensed my post-italian-food-blues because she has just alerted us to Spaghetti House’s September promotions to celebrate its 55th anniversary including this week’s Pasta Auction (55 pasta dishes for £1 if you book online quick enough in the mornings).

Ciao Ciao Prêt… Hell-ooo Spaghetti House. That’s me sorted till Friday then!
