Behind-The-Books Blog

Books Ahoy!

Monday, July 25th, 2011

When I was a young, impressionable teenager and had dozily watched ‘Summer Holiday’ on a lazy Saturday afternoon, I was seized by the idea of how cool it would be to convert a bus and live in it. The open road, the panoramic views, Cliff Richard… ahem.  Somehow this idea seemed exotically cool while the delights of camping à la Girl Guides with chemical loos, had never really appealed.

Which is why, while stumbling around online I was slightly giddy to discover The Book Barge, which may be coming to a town near you soon.  Check out the gallery of pictures (and coo like me if you wish), the colourful blog and their ‘@ large’ page for their current location. I look forward to reading about their future adventures in nomadic bookselling…

Going Too Far, by Catherine Alliott. Susie: I rarely read 'girly' books but came across Alliott a few years ago. I've read 3 of her books thus far, and was delighted to spot this one for 30p in a charity shop. I've not opened it as yet but am hoping for another witty, grown-up, middle-class romcom, with lots of 4x4s and country houses!
